Who we are

(Find out more below)

We are a team, with high standards of entry, who share a common mission, and make decisions based on our Hedgehog Concept.

Our Standards:

In order to be on the team, there must be a balance of the following:

  • Actually, truly wanting to be at ATSI
    • Being self-aware is beneficial to all people in the world. We believe that if you know what your dreams are and how to get there, then there is no reason they cannot come true. To be qualified to be a team member at ATSI your dreams must be furthered through the position you are hired for. For clients, this means people who are invested in your project’s success.

  • Demonstrated willingness to grow for The Mission.
    • Taking responsibility for yourself is humbling. You will learn how much you don’t know about some things. You will find the bravery to act when you want to give up. Fear is the mind killer. Meaningful sustainability often comes at personal cost. That could mean trudging through blackberry bushes, working long hours, trying something new that’s outside your comfort zone, etc.) To be a Team Member, you must demonstrate actions that will make sustainability possible. For a client, that means people who act in the best interest of you.

Our Mission

Making Sustainability Possible

Since 1982, ATSI has championed sustainability as Washington State environmental consultants, ensuring regulatory compliance and community balance. We view sustainability externally—balancing social, environmental, and economic factors for human-planet harmony—and internally, by empowering our team, maintaining sustainable workspaces, and ensuring financial stability. As trusted arbitrators, we apply professional judgment to align development projects with regulations while fostering strong client, vendor, and regulator partnerships. Committed to balancing human well-being with responsible resource use, ATSI creates a future where communities thrive, resources are preserved, and economic vitality endures. We win here when our decisions align with all three answers of our Hedgehog Concept questions.

Our Hedgehog Concept:

“The Hedgehog Concept is developed in the book Good to Great. A simple, crystalline concept that flows from deep understanding about the intersection of three circles: 1) what you are deeply passionate about, 2) what you can be the best in the world at, and 3) what best drives your economic or resource engine. Transformations from good to great come about by a series of good decisions made consistently with a Hedgehog Concept, supremely well executed, accumulating one upon another, over a long period of time.” -Jimcollins.com

After two years of work we’ve come up with the following answers:

What are we deeply passionate about?
Listening

What drives our economic engine?
Profit per dollar spent on the true cost of the billable hour

What can we be the best in the world at?
Stewardship
