Lucy Capron

Assistant Ecologist

About:
Lucy graduated from the University of Plymouth (UK) with a MS in Marine Conservation. Her thesis involved ground truthing and conducting advanced statistical and spatial analyses of three rivers in Wales and western England to determine whether they would be fit for a reintroduction program of the “Critically Endangered” European sturgeon. More recently, Lucy interned with the Orca Behavior Institute located on San Juan Island, WA, where she analyzed the movement patterns of the “Critically Endangered” Southern Resident Killer Whales to determine whether current protected areas had the greatest impact potential in the whales’ summer core habitat. Lucy has extensive experience both collecting data in the field and analyzing data using QGIS and R. Now, as an Assistant Ecologist, Lucy will be able to apply her sound scientific background to help implement a sustainable coexistence with the natural world. Lucy lives in the Skagit Valley and explores throughout the PNW with her sweet chocolate Labrador, Kayah.
